How To Install Ceramic Tile Easily

Installing ceramic tile isn't rocket science, and anyone with a bit of patience can learn how to install ceramic tile.

The first step is to prepare your subfloor. If you have any existing flooring you'll want to remove it as it can lead to a subpar ceramic tile installation. Clean and level concrete is the ideal surface to lay ceramic tile on, but if you don't have it, you can use a cement backer board.

After floor preparation and cleaning, it's time to layout your floor. Decide where you want your grout lines and cut tiles to be.

Professional tile setters use a wet saw to cut ceramic tile, but a do it yourselfer can get by with a snap cutter. A snap cutter works by scoring the tile and then applying pressure to break the tile.

Use thinset adhesive and a notched trowel to glue your tile to the floor. Be sure not to spread your thinset so far that you can't comfortably reach it. Use tile spacers when you are laying your tile.

Give it a day to dry, then grout using a rubber grout float.
